Stakeholders gathered at the Human Rights Committee parley.

The Human Rights Committee of the NBA Uyo Branch, led by the Vice Chairman of the NBA Uyo, who doubles as the Chairman of the Human Rights Committee, today held a Stakeholders’ Parley ahead of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence and the 2025 Human Rights Day.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders from civil society, the media, and community partners to discuss pressing issues including gender-based violence, unlawful arrest and detention, access to justice, and the role of institutions in protecting human rights.

During the session, the Committee unveiled its plans for the period, including:

  • Human Rights Help Desk at the NBA Secretariat (Nov 25 – Dec 10)
  • Dedicated hotline: 07076771928
  • Media sensitization and public awareness campaigns
  • Pro bono legal support for indigent persons
  • Engagements with the Correctional Centre and other agencies

The Parley created a collaborative space for reflection, partnership, and shared commitment to justice and dignity for all.

The NBA Uyo Human Rights Committee remains dedicated to amplifying voices, supporting victims, and strengthening human rights protections across Akwa Ibom State.
